App Store 2.3.4 rejection: App preview videos

This guide is for iPhone and iPad apps using video previews on the App Store.

Your preview may explain the idea well but still show something other than the app. Under 2.3.4, Apple requires app previews to use captures of the app itself. Narration and overlays can explain what’s happening; they don’t replace the real experience.

Review the video scene by scene

Check for concept animations, camera footage, mock interfaces, or features not in the submitted build. We’d compare the video with the exact version Apple receives, including the purchase state and language.

Sticker packs and iMessage extensions can demonstrate the experience inside Messages. That exception reflects where those features are used.

Recut the preview around actual use

Record the app’s screens and keep captions, narration, and overlays faithful to them. Remove scenes that imply a capability the user won’t find. Check 2.3.2 if the preview shows content that requires an additional purchase.

Watch the exported video on a small screen before replacing the uploaded asset. Confirm the live preview in App Store Connect is the corrected file, then tell Apple which video changed and where the shown features appear in the app.
