App Store 4.9 rejection: Apple Pay purchase information
By The Draftbit team · Updated

This guide is for iPhone and iPad apps using Apple Pay, including recurring payments.
The Apple Pay sheet can’t explain an offer that the app never makes clear. Guideline 4.9 requires material purchase information before the sale and correct use of Apple’s branding and interface elements.
Check the offer before authorization
Review what the person buys, what they’ll pay, and any important conditions before they authorize payment. For recurring charges, explain the renewal period, continuing renewal until cancellation, what’s provided each period, the actual charge, and how to cancel.
We’d walk the offer with someone who hasn’t seen the pricing configuration. A monthly-looking headline can obscure a different actual billing period.
Correct and test the checkout
Align the app’s explanation with the transaction and follow Apple’s Apple Pay design guidance. Check shipping or other material purchase details where relevant. Apple Pay doesn’t replace in-app purchase when digital payment rules require it.
Test the corrected checkout and cancellation explanation using an appropriate test setup. Give Apple the route to the offer and the fields or screens changed. Confirm that recurring-payment terms are visible before the user commits.
