App Store 5.3.2 rejection: Official contest rules

This guide is for iPhone and iPad apps offering sweepstakes, contests, or raffles.

A link to a promotion on your website may leave the reviewer without the rules inside the app. Guideline 5.3.2 requires the official rules to be presented in-app and to make clear that Apple has no sponsorship or involvement.

Read the rules from the entry screen

Check whether someone can find and read the current rules before entering. Verify the promotion name, dates, eligibility, and sponsor match the activity. We’d also test the route on a signed-out device if entry information is public.

Publish the correct rules in the app

Provide the actual official rules and the required statement about Apple. Keep the presentation readable and the version consistent across the app and supporting pages. Get qualified help drafting app-specific contest terms; a generic template may miss the promotion’s obligations.

Test the final entry-to-rules flow and any regional variations. Give Apple the navigation steps and the corrected text or build. Check 5.3.1 too, since naming a sponsor in the rules doesn’t resolve an ineligible sponsorship model.
