App Store 5.3.3 rejection: In-app purchases and real-money gaming

This guide is for iPhone and iPad apps selling credits or currency connected to real-money gaming.

A credit pack doesn’t avoid a gambling-payment restriction. Under 5.3.3, in-app purchase can’t be used to buy credit or currency for real-money gaming.

Trace the credit after purchase

Check what a purchased balance can enter, stake, win, or redeem. We’d follow conversions between currencies too; separating “coins” and “tokens” on screen doesn’t help if one converts into the other for real-money play.

Remove the prohibited payment route

Remove in-app purchases connected to the real-money gaming activity. Review the remaining product against 5.3.4 and the applicable licensing requirements. Switching checkout providers alone doesn’t establish that the gambling product is permitted.

Test every balance source and conversion in a safe test environment. Verify that old products and purchase routes no longer grant prohibited credit.

Explain the corrected currency flow to Apple with the product identifiers involved. For app-specific gambling classification or legal obligations, use qualified advice before resubmitting.
