Google Play child endangerment policy: fixes and checks

Google’s Child Endangerment policy applies to the whole app, including what users create and share. A terms-page statement isn’t enough if the service still enables exploitation, grooming, or abusive material.

Check the pathways into the service

Review uploads, private messages, discovery, moderation, and reports. We’d have a responsible safety team examine the process using safe test material, without reproducing or distributing abusive content. Also check apps that appeal to children for adult themes, dangerous activities, or harmful body-image content.

Stop the prohibited activity

Remove the offending content or capability and correct how it entered the service. Follow applicable reporting obligations through the appropriate trained people and authorities. Covered social, dating, anonymous-chat, and random-chat apps also need Child Safety Standards.

Test reporting, blocking, and handling with fictional accounts and benign samples. Explain the controls and completed actions to Google through its review or appeal process. An adult-audience declaration doesn’t resolve conduct that endangers children.
