Google Play policies, explained.
Google's policy notice can cover several different problems. Start with the policy it names, then match the checks to what your app actually does.
146 policy guides for Android phones and tablets. Lettered clauses and examples are explained within their policy pages.
Payments and subscriptions
- Google Play payments policy: fixes and checksA Payments rejection usually requires checking what you're selling and how the user reaches checkout.Google Play
- Google Play subscriptions policy: fixes and checksA subscription needs ongoing value and a clear purchase offer. Google prohibits disguising a one-time benefit as a subscription or making the recurring charge hard to understand.Google Play
- Google Play free Trials and Introductory Offers policy: fixes and checksA free trial still needs to explain the paid subscription that follows. Google expects users to understand the duration, future price, automatic conversion, benefits, and cancellation path before enrolling.Google Play
- Google Play subscription management, cancellation, and refunds policy: fixes and checksUsers need an easy online way to cancel from your app. A support email alone doesn't meet Google's requirement for accessible subscription management and cancellation.Google Play
Advertising
- Google Play ads policy: fixes and checksGoogle treats ads and their offers as part of your app. A compliant app screen can still be rejected because an ad's content, destination, placement, or data use violates policy.Google Play
- Google Play ad Content policy: fixes and checksAn ad must meet Google's restricted-content rules just as your own app content does. Passing responsibility to the advertiser doesn't resolve a violation in your app.Google Play
- Google Play inappropriate Ads policy: fixes and checksAn ad can violate this policy even when Google allows its content elsewhere. The ad and its offer need to be appropriate for the app where they appear.Google Play
- Google Play deceptive Ads policy: fixes and checksUsers need to recognize an ad as an ad and know which app is serving it. Google prohibits ads that impersonate app features or operating-system warnings.Google Play
- Google Play disruptive Ads policy: fixes and checksGoogle prohibits ads that hijack expected actions or interfere with normal app and device use. A false close button or an ad appearing where the user was about to tap can trigger this policy.Google Play
- Google Play better Ads Experiences policy: fixes and checksFull-screen ads need to fit a natural break in the experience. Google prohibits unexpected interstitials that interrupt an action the user has just chosen, including the beginning of gameplay or content.Google Play
- Google Play made for Ads policy: fixes and checksA Made for Ads rejection means repeated interstitials are getting in the way of using the app. Individual ads can be dismissible and still create a prohibited sequence.Google Play
- Google Play lockscreen Monetization policy: fixes and checksGoogle restricts monetization of the lock screen to apps whose exclusive purpose is being a lockscreen.Google Play
- Google Play location data for ads policy: fixes and checksYou can't request device location solely to serve ads. If an app legitimately uses location for a current feature and also uses it for advertising, Google requires clear disclosure and compliant handling.Google Play
- Google Play Android Advertising ID policy: fixes and checksThe advertising ID is resettable for a reason. Google restricts how it can be used, linked to other identifiers, and handled after users opt out, reset it, or delete it.Google Play
- Google Play ad Fraud policy: fixes and checksAd fraud means presenting activity to an ad network as genuine user interest when it isn't. It can come from hidden ads, fabricated clicks, false attribution, or dishonest inventory information.Google Play
Restricted content
- Google Play child endangerment policy: fixes and checksGoogle's Child Endangerment policy applies to the whole app, including what users create and share. A terms-page statement isn't enough if the service still enables exploitation, grooming, or abusive material.Google Play
- Google Play Child Safety Standards policy: fixes and checksYour app is for adults, so a child-safety rejection feels like the wrong checklist. Google's current scope includes covered adult-only apps.Google Play
- Google Play inappropriate content policy: fixes and checks"Inappropriate content" covers several distinct rules. Google's notice may refer to sexual content, hate, violence, dangerous products, or another specific category.Google Play
- Google Play sexual content and profanity policy: fixes and checksAn adult rating doesn't automatically permit sexual content on Google Play. This policy prohibits pornography, sexually gratifying services, predatory behavior, and nonconsensual sexual material, among other content.Google Play
- Google Play hate speech policy: fixes and checksGoogle reviews the message your app carries, including user posts and generated content. The Hate Speech policy prohibits promotion of violence or hatred against groups defined by protected or marginalized characteristics.Google Play
- Google Play violence policy: fixes and checksGoogle distinguishes fictional game violence from gratuitous realistic harm and dangerous activity. The Violence policy generally allows fictional game contexts, but prohibits graphic realistic violence, threats, and promotion of activities that can cause serious injury or death.Google Play
- Google Play violent extremism policy: fixes and checksGoogle's policy covers both the publisher and the content. It prohibits specified violent organizations and movements from publishing apps and prohibits content that recruits for, plans, encourages, or celebrates violence against civilians.Google Play
- Google Play sensitive events policy: fixes and checksYour app can discuss a tragedy without exploiting it. Google's Sensitive Events policy prohibits insensitive or exploitative treatment, while generally allowing relevant educational, documentary, scientific, artistic, or awareness-raising content.Google Play
- Google Play bullying and harassment policy: fixes and checksA harassment problem can come from a feature's design as well as an individual post. Google's policy prohibits apps that contain or enable threats, bullying, and related exploitation.Google Play
- Google Play dangerous products policy: fixes and checksGoogle's Dangerous Products policy concerns what your app helps someone buy or make. It prohibits sales of explosives, firearms, ammunition, and specified accessories, as well as instructions for manufacturing prohibited weapons and components.Google Play
- Google Play marijuana sales policy: fixes and checksYour business can be licensed locally and still have a Google Play policy problem. Google's Marijuana rule prohibits apps that enable marijuana sales regardless of legality, including ordering, arranging delivery or pickup, and sales of products containing THC.Google Play
- Google Play tobacco and alcohol policy: fixes and checksGoogle reviews both sales and the behavior your app encourages. This policy restricts tobacco/nicotine sales and promotion, underage use, and illegal or inappropriate consumption, including favorable portrayals of excessive drinking.Google Play
- Google Play age-restricted content and functionality policy: fixes and checksDeclaring an adult audience isn't the same as using Google's required access controls. This policy requires covered apps to use Play Console tools to block minors.Google Play
- Google Play financial services policy: fixes and checksA small financial feature can create declaration requirements for the whole app. Google's Financial Services policy prohibits deceptive or harmful products and requires applicable local compliance.Google Play
- Google Play binary options policy: fixes and checksGoogle Play prohibits apps that let people trade binary options. If that's the feature named in the notice, changing the risk warning or selecting an adult audience won't address it.Google Play
- Google Play personal loans policy: fixes and checksYou don't have to issue the loan yourself to fall under this policy. Google covers direct lenders, lead generators, and apps connecting consumers with third-party lenders.Google Play
- Google Play earned wage access policy: fixes and checksCalling an advance "earned wages" doesn't make it qualify as earned-wage access. Google's definition concerns already-earned wages, repayment through payroll or linked autopay, and a specific fee and debt model.Google Play
- Google Play blockchain-based content policy: fixes and checksA blockchain feature can trigger more than one policy. Google separates exchange and wallet services, device mining, declarations for tokenized assets, and NFT game mechanics.Google Play
- Google Play cryptocurrency exchanges and wallets policy: fixes and checksA service can work globally while its permissions don't. Google requires cryptocurrency purchase, holding, and exchange through certified services in regulated jurisdictions, with compliance in every targeted location.Google Play
- Google Play cryptomining policy: fixes and checksGoogle Play prohibits cryptocurrency mining on the device. It permits apps that remotely manage mining, so the key question is where the work actually runs.Google Play
- Google Play tokenized digital assets policy: fixes and checksGoogle wants the tokenized-asset feature disclosed in both the app declaration and relevant product details.Google Play
- Google Play nFT gamification policy: fixes and checksSelling a chance to receive an NFT can bring gambling rules into the review. Outside qualifying gambling arrangements or applicable pilots, Google prohibits taking monetary value for a chance at an NFT of unknown value and using NFTs as stakes for valuable prizes.Google Play
- Google Play AI-generated content policy: fixes and checksThe model may be supplied by another company, but generated content is still part of your app. Google's policy requires compliance with its other content rules and an in-app way to report or flag offensive output without leaving the app.Google Play
- Google Play real-money gambling, games, and contests policy: fixes and checksA cash-prize feature can trigger Google's gambling rules even if you call it a contest. The policy separates approved gambling products, other real-money games, loyalty programs, advertising, and daily fantasy sports.Google Play
- Google Play gambling apps policy: fixes and checksA gambling license doesn't by itself complete Google's distribution requirements. Eligible apps need acceptance through Google's application process and authorization for the actual product and every location served.Google Play
- Google Play other real-money games and contests policy: fixes and checksA competition can fall under this rule even if its currency is called points. Outside Google's eligible gambling arrangements, applicable pilots, and qualifying loyalty programs, apps can't take real-world value for participation that can yield a valuable prize.Google Play
- Google Play real-money game pilots policy: fixes and checksAn old announcement about a pilot isn't permanent permission to publish. Google sometimes runs limited real-money game pilots for particular products and regions.Google Play
- Google Play gamified loyalty programs policy: fixes and checksA loyalty label doesn't make a paid chance to win acceptable. Google's allowance requires a genuine separate purchase, with the reward subordinate to it.Google Play
- Google Play daily fantasy sports policy: fixes and checksA sports app becomes a different review case when users pay to enter fantasy contests. Google's DFS policy requires acceptance through its application process and compliance with the relevant location-specific rules.Google Play
- Google Play illegal activities policy: fixes and checksA prohibited transaction can be hidden behind an ordinary-looking marketplace or community. Google's Illegal Activities policy covers apps that promote or enable unlawful activity, including the examples it gives around illegal drugs and underage substance use.Google Play
- Google Play user-generated content policy: fixes and checksA report button is useful only if someone can act on the report. Google's UGC policy requires ongoing moderation, accepted terms before content creation or upload, rules defining prohibited behavior, and controls suited to the interaction.Google Play
- Google Play incidental sexual content policy: fixes and checksGoogle's incidental-content allowance has specific conditions. It doesn't cover an app built around sexual content or one that actively promotes or recommends it.Google Play
- Google Play health content and services policy: fixes and checksGoogle's health rules can apply to a feature inside an otherwise unrelated app. They prohibit harmful health content and require applicable legal compliance, with more specific rules for medical functionality, health data, substances, and clinical-service payments.Google Play
- Google Play health and medical apps policy: fixes and checksYour app can be covered even when "health" isn't its main category. Google requires the Health apps declaration and checks privacy, permissions, medical claims, and any hardware the feature depends on.Google Play
- Google Play prescription drugs policy: fixes and checksA prescription-drug order can't bypass the prescription requirement. Google prohibits apps that enable buying or selling prescription drugs without a prescription.Google Play
- Google Play unapproved substances policy: fixes and checksA product can be sold elsewhere and still be prohibited by Google Play. This policy covers specified unapproved substances and misleading claims, regardless of a seller's general assertion that the product is legal.Google Play
- Google Play health misinformation policy: fixes and checksA health claim can appear in a chatbot response, article, or advertisement as well as a medical feature.Google Play
Privacy and security
- Google Play device and Network Abuse policy: fixes and checksA Device and Network Abuse rejection can come from your own code or a library. Google prohibits unauthorized interference with devices and services, unsafe code, and updates that bypass Play's update mechanism.Google Play
- Google Play FLAG_SECURE requirements policy: fixes and checksIf another app marks its screen with FLAGSECURE, your app must respect that protection. Google prohibits features that bypass it to capture or expose protected content.Google Play
- Google Play on-device Android containers policy: fixes and checksAn app can use REQUIRESECUREENV to say it must not run inside an on-device Android container. If your app provides that container, Google requires you to honor the flag.Google Play
- Google Play SDK requirements policy: fixes and checksAn SDK-caused rejection is still your app's rejection to resolve. Google holds you responsible for third-party code, its permissions, and what its providers do with data collected through your app.Google Play
- Google Play malware policy: fixes and checksGoogle can classify code as malware because of the risk it creates, even if you didn't intend harm. A dependency or behavior affecting only some supported devices can still cause a rejection.Google Play
- Google Play backdoors policy: fixes and checksA backdoor finding concerns code that enables unwanted, potentially harmful operations under remote control.Google Play
- Google Play billing Fraud policy: fixes and checksBilling fraud includes deceptive charges through premium messages, premium calls, and carrier billing.Google Play
- Google Play stalkerware and monitoring apps policy: fixes and checksGoogle narrowly limits acceptable monitoring apps. The policy permits qualifying parental and enterprise employee-monitoring uses that meet its requirements; it doesn't allow spouse tracking simply because someone says they consented.Google Play
- Google Play denial of Service (DoS) policy: fixes and checksGoogle prohibits code that uses a person's device for a denial-of-service attack without their knowledge.Google Play
- Google Play hostile Downloaders policy: fixes and checksYour app can be classified as a hostile downloader even if its own code isn't directly harmful. Google checks whether it distributes potentially harmful apps or mobile unwanted software.Google Play
- Google Play non-Android Threat policy: fixes and checksCode doesn't need to harm Android to violate this rule. Google can reject an Android app that contains a threat aimed at another platform.Google Play
- Google Play phishing policy: fixes and checksGoogle treats deceptive collection of login or billing information as phishing. The rule also covers interception of credentials while they're being transmitted.Google Play
- Google Play elevated Privilege Abuse policy: fixes and checksGoogle prohibits code that breaks the app sandbox, abuses elevated privileges, or disables core security protections.Google Play
- Google Play ransomware policy: fixes and checksRansomware takes control of a device or data and makes release conditional on payment or an action. Encryption, device-admin controls, and blocked uninstall paths can all be involved.Google Play
- Google Play rooting policy: fixes and checksGoogle distinguishes rooting that users knowingly request from malicious rooting. Disclosure alone isn't enough if the app also performs other potentially harmful actions.Google Play
- Google Play spam malware policy: fixes and checksThis malware category concerns the messages your code sends, not repetitive store listings. Google prohibits unsolicited messaging to a user's contacts and use of the device as an email spam relay.Google Play
- Google Play spyware policy: fixes and checksA spyware finding can come from unexpected data collection inside an SDK. Google looks at whether collection serves allowed functionality and whether users receive adequate notice and consent.Google Play
- Google Play trojan policy: fixes and checksA trojan classification means benign-looking functionality is paired with an unwanted harmful component.Google Play
- Google Play riskware policy: fixes and checksRiskware uses techniques such as cloaking or dynamic loading to make potentially harmful behavior look like an ordinary app.Google Play
- Google Play mobile Unwanted Software policy: fixes and checksGoogle's Mobile Unwanted Software policy covers software that undermines the experience users agreed to.Google Play
Permissions and APIs
- Google Play foreground service permissions policy: fixes and checksA foreground service isn't a general way to keep your app running. Google expects a useful task that's relevant to the app, visible to the user, stoppable, and active only as long as needed.Google Play
- Google Play user-initiated data transfer jobs policy: fixes and checksThis API is for a network transfer the user starts. It isn't permission to run unrelated background work or keep a job alive after a transfer finishes.Google Play
Honesty and identity
- Google Play deceptive Behavior policy: fixes and checksA Deceptive Behavior rejection means Google found a mismatch between what users are told and what the app does.Google Play
- Google Play misleading Claims policy: fixes and checksCalling an app a prank doesn't make an impossible feature claim acceptable. Google expects the title, screenshots, description, and app itself to describe functionality that actually exists.Google Play
- Google Play deceptive Device Settings Changes policy: fixes and checksUsers need to know and agree before your app changes their device outside your app. Google also expects those changes to be easy to reverse.Google Play
- Google Play enabling Dishonest Behavior policy: fixes and checksGoogle prohibits apps that help people deceive others, including tools for fraudulent identity documents.Google Play
- Google Play manipulated Media policy: fixes and checksMedia editing can cross this policy when it creates harmful deception about public issues, politics, or sensitive events.Google Play
- Google Play behavior Transparency policy: fixes and checksGoogle prohibits hidden, dormant, or undocumented features and techniques that evade review. Your app's real behavior needs to be reasonably clear to users and accessible to reviewers.Google Play
- Google Play misrepresentation policy: fixes and checksMisrepresentation goes beyond a misleading button. Google prohibits concealing or falsifying who operates an app or what it's for, including coordinated activity across apps and accounts.Google Play
- Google Play impersonation policy: fixes and checksYour app doesn't need to say "official" to impersonate another product. A similar icon, copied identity, or developer name can mislead users about who made it.Google Play
- Google Play unauthorized Use or Imitation of System Functionality policy: fixes and checksGoogle prohibits apps and ads that imitate or interfere with system functionality. A fake security alert can violate this policy even when tapping it only opens a promotion.Google Play
- Google Play social Engineering policy: fixes and checksThis rule prohibits using another app's apparent identity to trick users into doing something. The action might be a login, permission grant, installation, or payment intended for the trusted app.Google Play
Technical requirements
- Google Play target API level requirements policy: fixes and checksAn outdated target API can block an update or limit an existing app's availability. Google's requirements differ between new submissions and existing apps, so check which case the notice describes.Google Play
- Google Play Android Emoji Policy policy: fixes and checksApps running on Android 12 or later need to support the latest Unicode emoji. Custom emoji implementations must add support within four months of a new Unicode Emoji release.Google Play
Developer accounts and enforcement
- Google Play policy Coverage policy: fixes and checksGoogle's policies extend beyond the code you wrote. They apply to content your app displays or links to, ads, user-generated material, and publicly displayed developer-account content.Google Play
- Google Play enforcement process and actions policy: fixes and checksRead the action named in the notice before submitting anything. Rejection, removal, suspension, and account restriction have different consequences and different routes to resolution.Google Play
- Google Play Google Play Protect policy: fixes and checksA Play Protect warning is different from an ordinary review rejection. Play Protect checks installed apps and can warn users, disable an app, or remove it when it detects potentially harmful behavior.Google Play
- Google Play dormant Accounts policy: fixes and checksGoogle expects developer accounts to be actively used and maintained. A dormant-account notice concerns account activity, rather than a policy violation in a particular app screen.Google Play
- Google Play Play Console Requirements policy: fixes and checksIncomplete account verification or missing review access can block an otherwise working app. Google requires accurate account information, the appropriate account type, and the resources needed to review your app.Google Play
- Google Play account Transfers and ownership requirements policy: fixes and checksGoogle requires the formal account-owner transfer process when ownership changes. Sharing credentials or buying an account through an illegitimate marketplace doesn't substitute for that process.Google Play
Specialized apps
Functionality and experience
- Google Play spam policy: fixes and checksGoogle's Spam policy covers several different problems. Start with the specific example in the notice: unsolicited messages, affiliate traffic, unauthorized WebViews, or repetitive content each require a different fix.Google Play
- Google Play message Spam policy: fixes and checksA Share button isn't enough if tapping it immediately sends messages the user hasn't reviewed. Google requires users to be able to confirm both the content and intended recipients.Google Play
- Google Play webviews and Affiliate Spam policy: fixes and checksGoogle prohibits apps whose main purpose is generating affiliate traffic or presenting someone else's website in a WebView without permission.Google Play
- Google Play repetitive Content policy: fixes and checksGoogle expects an app to add distinct content or services. Publishing many small variations of the same app can violate Repetitive Content even when each build has a different package name.Google Play
- Google Play functionality, Content, and User Experience policy: fixes and checksGoogle expects an app to provide useful content or functionality and a stable experience. A successful install alone doesn't establish that the app is ready for users.Google Play
- Google Play limited Functionality and Content policy: fixes and checksA static text page, PDF wrapper, or single-wallpaper app can fall short of Google's functionality and content requirements.Google Play
- Google Play broken Functionality policy: fixes and checksA Broken Functionality rejection means the submitted app doesn't behave as a working app should. Start with the reviewer's device, steps, and screenshot rather than assuming your development build proves it works.Google Play
Children and families
- Google Play families policies policy: fixes and checksIncluding children in your audience changes more than the content rating. Google's Families policies add requirements for content, data, SDKs, advertising, social features, and age-appropriate functionality.Google Play
- Google Play target Audience and Content policy: fixes and checksYour declared audience needs to match the people the app was designed for. Selecting adult age groups doesn't override child-directed imagery, terminology, or functionality.Google Play
- Google Play families Ads and Monetization policy: fixes and checksFamilies monetization rules cover more than third-party ads. Cross-promotions, in-app purchase offers, and paid placements also need to be appropriate and understandable for children.Google Play
- Google Play families Self-Certified Ads SDK Program policy: fixes and checksFamilies self-certification applies to specific SDK versions. Choosing a familiar ad-network name doesn't establish that the version in your app is approved for serving children.Google Play
Monetization and ads
- Google Play gambling advertising policy: fixes and checksYour app doesn't need to take bets to violate gambling-ad rules. Google checks the advertised service, location, audience, and the host app's own features.Google Play
- Google Play clinical-service payments policy: fixes and checksA clinical consultation and a digital subscription can sit in the same app but need different payment treatment.Google Play
Store listing and promotion
- Google Play app Promotion policy: fixes and checksYour app can violate the App Promotion policy because of how someone else advertises it. Google holds you responsible for networks and affiliates that promote your app through deceptive or harmful practices.Google Play
- Google Play metadata policy: fixes and checksGoogle expects metadata to explain the app clearly and accurately. Keyword blocks, misleading symbols, inappropriate imagery, and promotional claims can trigger rejection even when the app itself works.Google Play
- Google Play user Ratings, Reviews, and Installs policy: fixes and checksGoogle prohibits manipulating ratings, reviews, or install counts. Rewards for reviews and fabricated user activity can violate this rule even if a marketing provider runs the campaign.Google Play
- Google Play content Ratings policy: fixes and checksYour app needs an accurate content rating. Google uses your questionnaire responses to obtain regional ratings, and inaccurate answers can lead to removal or suspension.Google Play
Permissions and device access
- Google Play permissions and sensitive APIs policy: fixes and checksA permission needs a current reason users can understand. Google limits sensitive permissions and APIs to implemented, permitted features promoted in the listing.Google Play
- Google Play restricted permissions policy: fixes and checksAn Android permission being available doesn't mean every app can request it. Google's restricted-permission rules add eligibility and data-handling conditions beyond the operating-system prompt.Google Play
- Google Play minimum-scope permission alternatives policy: fixes and checksA person choosing one file doesn't necessarily need to grant access to all their files. Google's minimum-scope rule expects sensitive permissions only when a narrower alternative can't provide the core functionality.Google Play
- Google Play photo and video permissions policy: fixes and checksYour app only lets people choose a profile photo, but Google says it requests broad access to their media.Google Play
- Google Play SMS and call log permissions policy: fixes and checksReading a verification code doesn't automatically qualify an app to read messages. Google's SMS and Call Log policy normally ties restricted access to being the active default SMS, Phone, or Assistant handler, with specific documented exceptions.Google Play
- Google Play location permissions policy: fixes and checksGoogle looks at how much location access the feature actually needs. Request the narrowest scope, stop when the purpose ends, and don't collect location solely for advertising or analytics.Google Play
- Google Play background location policy: fixes and checksBackground location needs more than a convenient implementation. Google limits it to a feature beneficial to the user and central to the app's purpose, with a convincing need for that level of access.Google Play
- Google Play all files access policy: fixes and checksImporting a document isn't the same as needing access to every file. Google restricts All files access to critical app functionality and requires the appropriate access review before publishing covered apps.Google Play
- Google Play package visibility policy: fixes and checksThe list of apps on a device is sensitive information. Google restricts broad visibility to eligible core functionality and expects targeted queries where they can meet the task.Google Play
- Google Play accessibility API policy: fixes and checksAccessibility access is powerful enough that Google restricts both its purpose and behavior. It can't bypass platform privacy/security controls, make deceptive interface changes, or change settings without permission.Google Play
- Google Play IsAccessibilityTool eligibility policy: fixes and checksThe IsAccessibilityTool flag is for apps whose core functionality directly supports people with disabilities.Google Play
- Google Play request install packages policy: fixes and checksGoogle allows this permission for eligible core features that send or receive app packages and support user-initiated installation.Google Play
- Google Play body sensor permissions policy: fixes and checksA sensor permission needs a supported health-related purpose and appropriate data handling. Google's rule covers both legacy body-sensor permissions and the more granular permissions used by apps targeting Android 16 or later.Google Play
- Google Play Health Connect policy: fixes and checksHealth Connect provides a shared place for health data and permissions, but each app still needs an approved purpose.Google Play
- Google Play Health Connect appropriate use policy: fixes and checksGoogle limits Health Connect to approved uses with features that benefit users' health or fitness. Permission for one feature can't be extended to an undisclosed or unrelated purpose.Google Play
- Google Play Health Connect limited use policy: fixes and checksHealth Connect access doesn't make health data available for any business purpose. Google limits use to approved visible features and places strict conditions on transfers and human access.Google Play
- Google Play Health Connect minimum scope policy: fixes and checksA Health Connect rejection may be about the breadth of access rather than the feature itself. Google requires requests limited to the data necessary for the product's actual functionality.Google Play
- Google Play Health Connect notice and control policy: fixes and checksThe system permission screen doesn't explain everything your service does after reading a health record.Google Play
- Google Play VPN Service policy: fixes and checksVpnService access has limits even when the tunnel connects successfully. Google allows core VPN functionality and specified exceptions such as qualifying parental control, security, network, browser, or carrier features.Google Play
- Google Play exact alarm permission policy: fixes and checksNot every reminder needs the restricted exact-alarm permission. Google limits USEEXACTALARM to qualifying core functions requiring precise timing, such as alarm/timer apps and calendar event notifications.Google Play
- Google Play full-screen intent permission policy: fixes and checksA notification needing attention isn't automatically eligible for full-screen access. For apps targeting Android 14 or later, Google limits automatic permission grants to core alarm and incoming phone/video-call functionality.Google Play
Privacy and data
- Google Play age Signals API policy: fixes and checksAge Signals data is for meeting applicable legal and regulatory obligations, such as providing appropriate age-based experiences.Google Play
- Google Play User Data policy: fixes and checksYour privacy policy and your app need to tell the same story. Google's User Data policy requires transparency about access, collection, use, and sharing, and limits handling to disclosed, permitted purposes.Google Play
- Google Play personal and sensitive user data policy: fixes and checksSensitive data includes more than a person's name. Google also includes information such as location, authentication details, installed-app inventory, camera/microphone data, and health records.Google Play
- Google Play prominent disclosure and consent policy: fixes and checksA privacy-policy link isn't a substitute for an explanation at the moment it matters. Google requires prominent in-app disclosure when sensitive-data handling may surprise users, such as collection in the background.Google Play
- Google Play restrictions on sensitive data access policy: fixes and checksA general privacy disclosure doesn't override the restrictions on particular data. Google prohibits public disclosure of financial/payment details and government IDs, unauthorized exposure of private contacts, and certain links between persistent identifiers and other information.Google Play
- Google Play data safety policy: fixes and checksSelecting "no data collected" doesn't make it true if a library sends information off the device. Google's Data safety policy requires accurate, maintained answers describing the app's collection, use, and sharing, including third-party code.Google Play
- Google Play privacy policy policy: fixes and checksGoogle requires a privacy policy even if you believe your app collects no personal data. It needs to identify the app or listed entity, explain actual data handling, and provide a privacy contact route.Google Play
- Google Play account deletion policy: fixes and checksDeleting the app isn't deleting the account. Google requires covered apps to provide a discoverable way to request deletion both inside the app and through an external web resource, with that URL entered in Play Console.Google Play
- Google Play App Set ID policy: fixes and checksApp Set ID supports certain non-advertising uses, such as analytics and fraud prevention. Google prohibits using it for personalized ads or ad measurement, and prohibits linking it to Android identifiers or personal/sensitive data for advertising purposes.Google Play
- Google Play EU, UK, and Swiss data privacy frameworks policy: fixes and checksThis rule has a specific scope: personal information made available by Google that directly or indirectly identifies someone and originated in the covered regions.Google Play
Identity and ownership
- Google Play intellectual property policy: fixes and checksA working app can still need proof that you're allowed to distribute its content. Google's Intellectual Property policy covers infringement and features that encourage it, including material in the store listing.Google Play
- Google Play unauthorized copyrighted content policy: fixes and checksChanging an image or crediting its creator doesn't necessarily give you distribution rights. Google prohibits unauthorized copyrighted content and may ask for evidence supporting your use.Google Play
- Google Play encouraging copyright infringement policy: fixes and checksYour app doesn't have to ship a copyrighted file to create a problem. Google also prohibits features and promotion that encourage copyright infringement.Google Play
- Google Play trademark infringement policy: fixes and checksA similar name or logo can make users think your app comes from another company. Google's Trademark Infringement policy addresses unauthorized or improper use likely to create that confusion.Google Play
- Google Play counterfeit goods policy: fixes and checksA marketplace can be responsible for counterfeit listings supplied by its sellers. Google's policy prohibits selling or promoting goods that imitate another brand's identifying features to pass as genuine.Google Play
