Google Play families Ads and Monetization policy: fixes and checks

This guide is for Apps showing ads or commercial offers to children or users of unknown age.
Families monetization rules cover more than third-party ads. Cross-promotions, in-app purchase offers, and paid placements also need to be appropriate and understandable for children.
What to check
Use qualifying Families self-certified SDK versions for ads shown to children and users of unknown age. Disable interest-based advertising and remarketing for those users. Check every mediation partner and the treatment passed with each request.
Inspect launch, gameplay, offers, and dismissal. Prohibited patterns include launch interstitials, multiple ad placements on a page, ads disguised as content, manipulative purchase pressure, and confusing virtual currency with real money.
The five-second rule
Advertising or monetization that interferes with normal use must be closeable after five seconds, including rewarded or opt-in ads. Non-interrupting formats, such as ads integrated into video content, may last longer. Don’t apply the general interstitial rule in place of this stricter Families requirement.
How to address the rejection
Remove unsuitable creatives and formats, reduce placements, and make commercial content clearly distinguishable. Use a neutral age screen for mixed audiences where required, and treat unknown ages appropriately.
Test a child’s full session, including cross-promotions for your own apps. Record the close timing and verify that closing doesn’t trigger another ad. Provide the exact SDK versions, audience configuration, and corrected placement in your response.
