Google Play manipulated Media policy: fixes and checks

This guide is for Apps that create, alter, or distribute images, audio, video, or text.
Media editing can cross this policy when it creates harmful deception about public issues, politics, or sensitive events. Google also checks how you advertise the editing capability.
What to check
Inspect templates, example outputs, public-figure presets, news graphics, and store screenshots. Could the result reasonably appear to be an authentic news report or a real person’s statement?
Review shared and exported files, not just the preview inside the editor. A disclaimer that disappears on export may leave the misleading artifact intact.
How to address the rejection
Remove prohibited uses and misleading promotion. Where an allowed exception applies, use clear user-facing disclosures or watermarks that remain meaningful in the output. Public-interest, obvious parody, and clearly artificial content can have exceptions, but they aren’t a blanket exemption from other restricted-content rules.
Document the template changes, export behavior, and enforcement controls. If the app generates content with AI, also check the AI-generated content policy.
