Google Play repetitive Content policy: fixes and checks

By The Draftbit team · Updated

This guide is for Apps with substantially the same content and experience as other apps on Google Play.

Google expects an app to add distinct content or services. Publishing many small variations of the same app can violate Repetitive Content even when each build has a different package name.

What to check

Compare features, content, navigation, screenshots, and audience across your catalog and similar apps. Separate genuine differences from changes to colors, logos, or a small content set.

Review whether several thin apps would serve users better as one app with categories, locations, or account-specific content.

How to address the rejection

Consolidate overlapping apps or add meaningful original content and functionality. Remove copied material that doesn’t add value and address any separate rights issue.

Give reviewers concrete examples of the distinct service and how to reach it. A list of technical implementation differences isn’t evidence of a different user experience. Avoid repeatedly resubmitting cosmetic variants while the underlying duplication remains.
