Google Play request install packages policy: fixes and checks

Google allows this permission for eligible core features that send or receive app packages and support user-initiated installation. It isn’t a general way for a Play app to update itself.

Identify the package workflow

Check file transfer, browser downloads, backup, migration, management, or companion-device features against Google’s permitted uses. We’d inspect every package-install path and confirm that the user initiates and drives it.

Remove unsupported installation behavior

Remove the permission when the core function doesn’t qualify. The policy prohibits self-updates, modifications, or bundled APKs in assets outside the stated device-management exception. Keep the eligible feature clearly described in the listing.

Test receiving a package, cancelling, and explicitly starting installation in a safe setup. Give Google the feature, declaration, and final manifest. Downloading another package through a hidden updater doesn’t become compliant because Android displays a later system prompt.
