App Store 4.5.5 rejection: Game Center player identifiers

This guide is for iPhone and iPad apps displaying or sharing Game Center Player IDs.

A Player ID can be useful to your integration without being appropriate to display or share. Apple’s 4.5.5 limits Game Center IDs to uses allowed by its terms and says not to expose them in the app or to third parties.

Trace every destination

Check profile screens, debug views, share links, analytics events, crash reports, and backend responses. We’d search for the identifier’s field name through the app and service integrations, since a logging library may transmit it without a visible feature doing so.

Remove the exposure

Keep the identifier within the permitted integration and remove it from public display or third-party payloads. Use an appropriate app-owned identifier for unrelated functionality, without turning that change into a way to trace Game Center identities.

Test the affected screens and inspect network/logging output using a test account. Explain where the ID previously appeared and how the corrected build handles it. For broader harvesting or identity linking, also check 4.5.3.
