Google Play deceptive Ads policy: fixes and checks

By The Draftbit team ยท Updated

This guide is for Ads styled as app controls, notifications, warnings, or other non-ad content.

Users need to recognize an ad as an ad and know which app is serving it. Google prohibits ads that impersonate app features or operating-system warnings.

What to check

Inspect native ad styling, help icons, fake download controls, message badges, and security alerts. Does a button appear to perform an app task but open an advertiser instead?

Review ads in context, with the surrounding screen visible. A creative that looks clear in isolation may become deceptive when placed beside similar app controls.

How to address the rejection

Remove impersonating creatives and separate advertising from functional controls. Label native placements clearly and make the serving app identifiable.

Test the actual tap destination and dismiss behavior. Provide a before-and-after explanation of the misleading element, rather than only saying you changed the ad network. Also check system-functionality imitation if the ad resembles an Android warning or notification.
