Google Play disruptive Ads policy: fixes and checks

By The Draftbit team · Updated

This guide is for Ads that interrupt device use, cause accidental clicks, or are difficult to dismiss.

Google prohibits ads that hijack expected actions or interfere with normal app and device use. A false close button or an ad appearing where the user was about to tap can trigger this policy.

What to check

Test navigation, back and home actions, app exit, backgrounding, and return from another app. Check overlays and widgets as well as normal in-app placements.

Verify that dismiss controls actually dismiss. Your app can’t force an ad click or disclosure of personal information for advertising before users can fully use it.

How to address the rejection

Keep ads inside the serving app, remove exit-triggered placements, and make interrupting ads easy to dismiss without penalty. Avoid inserting ads into a tap target after the user has committed to an action.

Record the affected flow from before the ad loads through dismissal. Review slow-network timing, which can expose accidental-click behavior absent in a fast test. The separate Better Ads Experiences policy adds rules for full-screen timing and closeability.
