Google Play hate speech policy: fixes and checks

This guide is for Google Play apps containing speech or imagery targeting protected or marginalized groups with hatred or violence.
Google reviews the message your app carries, including user posts and generated content. The Hate Speech policy prohibits promotion of violence or hatred against groups defined by protected or marginalized characteristics.
Inspect the target and context
Review slurs, stereotypes, symbols, recommendations, and prompts. Who is targeted, and what does the content encourage others to believe or do? We’d look at the full interaction rather than a single word removed from context.
Educational or documentary material needs clear context; the policy also notes local restrictions on some Nazi-related material. A general educational label doesn’t establish that every item qualifies.
Remove the violation and its route back
Remove prohibited content and repair moderation or generation controls that supplied it. Test reports, repeat uploads, and relevant search paths using benign samples.
Give Google the affected feature, the correction, and the actual context for any material you believe was misunderstood. An updated community policy is useful only when the app and its handling process follow it.
