Google Play inappropriate Ads policy: fixes and checks

By The Draftbit team · Updated

This guide is for Apps whose ads or promoted offers are too mature for their content rating.

An ad can violate this policy even when Google allows its content elsewhere. The ad and its offer need to be appropriate for the app where they appear.

What to check

Compare your app’s content rating with ad-network settings and actual creatives. Include the maturity of an app or service promoted by the ad, not just the ad’s visible artwork.

Check every mediation partner. One correctly configured network doesn’t constrain the others, and a default configuration may allow broader content than your app should show.

How to address the rejection

Set appropriate content controls, block unsuitable categories or campaigns, and verify that the settings apply to the affected placement. Apps serving children must also meet Families advertising requirements.

Collect the campaign identifier and provider when reproducing the issue, then use the provider’s test tools to verify the corrected configuration. Explain both the removed ad and the control that prevents similar offers. Raising your rating isn’t a substitute for accurately rating the app or meeting its child-audience obligations.
