Google Play sensitive events policy: fixes and checks
By The Draftbit team · Updated
Sources checked
This guide is for Google Play apps referring to emergencies, disasters, conflicts, deaths, or other major sensitive events.
Your app can discuss a tragedy without exploiting it. Google’s Sensitive Events policy prohibits insensitive or exploitative treatment, while generally allowing relevant educational, documentary, scientific, artistic, or awareness-raising content.
Review the benefit and the presentation
Check the title, imagery, ads, paid items, and notifications. Does the app help people understand or respond to the event, or primarily profit from suffering? We’d inspect remote campaigns because they may differ from the build you reviewed internally.
Correct the harmful use
Remove exploitative promotions, denial of well-documented tragedies, or insensitive material identified in the notice. If your content serves an allowed contextual purpose, explain that specific purpose and how it appears to users.
Verify the app, listing, and campaign assets together. Give Google the changed material and relevant context. A donation claim needs to reflect the actual arrangement; don’t invent a benefit to justify the promotion.
