Google Play violence policy: fixes and checks

By The Draftbit team · Updated

This guide is for Google Play apps depicting graphic violence or encouraging dangerous activities or self-harm.

Google distinguishes fictional game violence from gratuitous realistic harm and dangerous activity. The Violence policy generally allows fictional game contexts, but prohibits graphic realistic violence, threats, and promotion of activities that can cause serious injury or death.

Review the scene and its incentive

Check imagery, instructions, rewards, and user-generated challenges. We’d inspect what the person is encouraged to do, not only the age rating or category selected in Play Console.

Change the harmful experience

Remove the prohibited material or activity and the incentives around it. For content you believe fits an allowed fictional context, explain the scene and provide reviewable steps. Don’t assume a game label covers every portrayal.

Test the corrected scene, alternate routes, and new user uploads where relevant. Give Google the specific changes and a safe demonstration. A warning screen doesn’t repair a feature whose purpose is to encourage serious harm.
