Set up your Apple Developer account

You have an Apple Account, but App Store Connect still needs a developer membership before you can publish. Enroll the person or organization that owns the app in the Apple Developer Program. That’s the account you’ll build the publishing setup around.

Get the account details ready

Turn on two-factor authentication and check the Apple Account’s legal name and contact details. Individuals must be of legal age in their region. Apple lists US membership at $99 a year; local prices and eligibility for fee waivers vary.

For an organization, gather its legal entity name, D‑U‑N‑S number unless exempt, website, and work-domain email. You’ll also need someone authorized to enter agreements for the organization.

Enroll and activate the membership

1. Open Apple’s official enrollment page and sign in with the owner’s Apple Account.
2. Choose the entity type that matches the owner. Enter the legal details from your documents, rather than an informal brand name or DBA.
3. Supply the requested identity and contact details. Apple doesn’t accept a PO box as the enrollment address.
4. For an organization, complete the checks on the entity and your authority to act for it. Watch the email address and phone number you supplied for follow-up.
5. Complete the membership purchase when Apple makes it available. Keep the receipt and renewal details with the publisher.
6. Once membership is active, open App Store Connect. The Account Holder should accept outstanding agreements and invite the people who will manage the app.

Payment or a submitted application doesn’t mean enrollment is finished. Check that membership is active, App Store Connect opens, and the responsible person can create an app record.

If one team member can’t create an app, check their role and any agreements awaiting the Account Holder. You may need to fix access rather than enroll again.
