App Store 5.2.5 rejection: Apple designs, media, and attribution

This guide is for iPhone and iPad apps resembling Apple products or using Apple media, Activity rings, or Weather data.

Apple’s design and content rules extend beyond the app icon. Guideline 5.2.5 covers confusingly similar products, certain media uses, Activity-ring presentation, and Weather attribution. We’d identify the exact asset or behavior before making a broad redesign.

Inspect the flagged element

Compare the app’s appearance with the Apple interface or product named in the notice. Check bundled emoji artwork against 4.5.6, which distinguishes system-rendered characters from copied artwork.

Music previews can’t serve as a game’s soundtrack or other unauthorized entertainment. Permitted previews need a link to the corresponding music. Activity rings and Apple Weather data have their own presentation or attribution guidance linked from the official rule.

Replace or correct the use

Create a distinct interface, remove unauthorized assets, and add required attribution or links for permitted content. Verify each integration against its specific documentation.

Inspect the rebuilt app and store assets together. Give Apple the changed element and supporting rights or attribution details. A color change won’t settle an interface whose overall presentation still impersonates an Apple product.
